A New Shed and Railings

Our newest client, Walter, is a double leg amputee and his wife, Julia, only has one lung. They have scooters that allow them to travel around their neighborhood to visit friends, to shop for groceries and get to a bus stop so that they can travel to doctor’s appointments. Their initial request to Operation Northern Comfort (ONC) was for a ramp that would allow them to store their scooters in their home. Unfortunately, their front porch is too high and would require over 40 feet of ramp and there is not enough room in front of their home. ONC’s solution was to assemble a 4’X6′ shed in their back yard to securely store their scooters. Additionally, their front step railings are 4′ apart making it impossible to grasp both railings when using the steps. ONC installed 8′ long railings 36″ apart so they can safely climb their steps while grasping both railings. We’re proud to help such a deserving family in our community!
