Blessing Boxes

Tai Ngo Shaw attended a board meeting of ONC with a request for help.Tai has been very active and prominent in the immigrant community. He shared a vision of placing structures called Blessing Boxes through out the Central New York community. “Could you build them for me” he asked. We could and we did! Young ladies from Pretty Girls Rock went to his facility and painted 12 of these boxes. Tai found organizations to place them in the open and stock them with food items. Folks are free to pick items they need and/or restock them. For more information on this program, visit Tai’s retail business, CNY Uniforms, 664 Burnet Ave., Syracuse.

The folks that operate the food pantry at St. Joseph the Worker Church asked ONC to extend the program to their facility. Rick constructed a larger version of the original plan for a box placed outside the premises. Dave built a larger box on wheels that can be placed in the entry of the church. In this manner, donations may be transported from the church to the food pantry.
